ReSpec(t) for polyesters - A new way of polyester usage and production
Moving the polyester value chain in the circular direction means improving recycling, promoting reuse, and redesigning products while considering the whole product life cycle. That is why we are respecifying and expanding our existing product portfolio step-by-step to contribute to a circular and sustainable polyester chain and a circular economy as a whole.
High performance materials to create your own closed-loop :
Products in the portfolio comply with any or all of the following aspects:
Special developed polyesters which allow production of fully recyclable products, because we are considering the whole product life cycle during the design process. Our strength is our know-how to enhance the properties of polyesters while maintaining their recyclability. Also, we focus on the development of polyester-based solutions to substitute (a combination of) materials that are less recyclable or have a higher environmental impact. (curbing the use of problematic materials)
Special developed recycled PET from different mechanical recycling sources, preferably from our customers’ own closed-loop (product to product). High-quality, food grade rPET is now being used for non-food contact products, such as household products and clothes, which is downcycling. We focus on fully recyclable polyesters without downcycling.
Special developed recycled PET from novel chemical recycling processes. Currently many chemical recycling processes are still in a developmental stage, For example, our partner CuRe Technology is close to realizing a demonstration plant, which will produce valuable raw materials from sources that were thus far considered waste. We see this partial depolymerisation technology as a promising future source for sustainable polyesters, but only when mechanical recycling has reached its limits.
We believe it is possible in the future to add bio-based monomers into the polymer chain to replace traditional fossil-based raw materials.
