Polyester and (r)PET grades for the production of Rigid Packaging
Rigid Packaging is one of the globally fastest growing industries. Most commonly produced products by means of extrusion are APET and CPET sheets, which are generally thermoformed into trays. Examples of injection-molded packaging products are cups, bottles, and containers.
Many rigid packaging applications present excellent opportunities for the use of recycled materials and this reduces the need for fossil based raw materials. DuFor offers a range of rPET resins that are approved for direct food contact applications.

Rethink the packaging process, improve recyclability
Plastic Packaging has a significant environmental impact. The materials used, recyclability, the packaging weight, and its manufacturing methods are all factors that increase or decrease this impact on the environment. Currently, there is a clear trend towards PET packaging. This is mainly driven by the excellent recyclability of polyester plus the possibility to obtain food approval. Other (coextruded) polymers, like PE and other barrier materials are disturbing the polyester recycling processes. To avoid these issues, it is essential to apply design for recycling, to rethink the packaging, and to use monomaterials as much as possible, or materials that can be recycled together. DuFor has several modified polyesters that, for example, can be used as sealing medium. These materials are 100% recyclable in a normal PET loop.
