Fibers
Polyester resins for the production of Fibers or Multifilaments
Synthetic fibers can be made of polyester and they are used for the manufacture of many products, such as clothing, home furnishings, industrial yarns, ropes, non-woven fabric, and geo textiles. The advantages of polyester are its high strength, low creep, excellent durability, and low moisture absorption. This makes it perfect for applications which require high stain, dirt, and water resistance in combination with excellent wear and tear properties.
Recycled PET for fiber production
Polyester textiles and filaments present excellent opportunities for the use of recycled content, but they can also be recycled themselves. Together with the recycling know-how of our sister company Cumapol and the compounding expertise of DuFor, we produce polyester raw materials for fiber production, which are based on 100% post-consumer and/or post-industrial polyesters. This saves valuable petrol-based raw materials, reduces energy consumption, and eliminates solid waste sent to landfills or incineration facilities.
Tailor-made polyesters
DuFor has developed several CumaBatch and CumaPET types to meet the increasing demand for special raw materials for fiber production. Examples are products with very high tenacity, adjusted shrinkage, low melt functionality, flame retardancy, improved resilience, addition of recycled content etc.
Custom-made solutions
Using over 50 years of experience in polymer development and processing in a variety of applications, we are able to help our customers to develop innovative, high-value, and sustainable products. Our technical team is able to translate your demands into the exact chemical structure of the polymer needed to reach these requirements. We can also support you with extensive analyses of your end products to help further optimize the raw material selection and/or your production processes.
